Why “Come Alive”?

After spending eight years in youth ministry, my heart became overwhelmed by the need to minister to adults. Obviously it’s important to minister to teens, I did it for years. But in the depths of my heart I realized a deep calling to reach their parents and convince them of the beauty of this Catholic faith. One day, as I listened to an episode of the Abiding Together podcast, they challenged us to pray with a specific scripture passage for the week: Ezekiel 37:1-14.

After day one of praying with it I thought it seemed pointless, it’s kind of a weird story! After day two, I had a really vivid prayer experience. I was standing over this valley of dry bones and God was asking me to pray over them, because he wanted to bring them to life again. He wanted them to come alive. I realized I wasn’t ministering to teens anymore, I was praying over parents, adults, over dry bones who were thirsting for new life.

So this deep conviction to help others come alive in Christ has led me here, to you. So thank you for reading. I pray that through this, Christ can breathe new life into your dry bones.

The Goal

My goal is to give you different opportunities to grow your faith, some may include:

  • tools for deeper prayer
  • how to live your faith with your family
  • sharing your faith with those around you
  • however the Holy Spirit leads

With each post, I will include points for prayer, reflection, and action. So as you are inspired, take some time to pray with the various posts and let the Holy Spirit speak to you!

Feel free to contact me if you have questions or want to chat! I’d love to hear from you. And if you find something that helps you along the way, please spread the message and share with your friends.

Cover Art

The cover artwork was commissioned and brought to life by Jackie Marko (check her out here!). I wanted something to capture the idea of dry bones coming to life and this is where we landed! New life is springing up out of dry bones – bright, beautiful flowers out of what we once thought to be the end of the story. The Holy Spirit speaks over us and breathes into us, bringing forth something new and beautiful.

This is all of us in so many ways, walking around like a pile of dry bones, lifeless and distracted. Our Good Father, however, desires us to be fully alive. He desires us to live life abundantly and vibrantly and joyfully, experiencing life, prayer, sacrament, relationship, conversation, creation, beauty, joy and even more than I could express in words.
